IG Vienna's 2026 in Review
In January, IG Wien kicked off the year with our New Year Party at WerK. With a fun Pub Quiz, good food, drinks, and great conversations, it was a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together and start the year on a positive note. The evening was more than just a party – it was a strong signal of connection, community, and the spirit of IG Wien.
Also in January, together with Wiener Nimmerland, we had the opportunity to take part in a very special guided tour through Vienna – led from the perspective of a person who had experienced homelessness firsthand. The walk invited us to look beyond the surface and reflect on what life on the streets can really mean: What does it feel like to live without a home? How can addiction shape everyday life and gradually take control? And what remains when almost everything else has been lost? It was a powerful and thought-provoking experience that offered new perspectives and encouraged us to look at our city – and the people living in it – with greater understanding and empathy. We are very grateful to Wiener Nimmerland for this unique experience and to Plantasia GmbH for sponsoring the event and making it possible for our participants to take part free of charge.
Our first Stammtisch of the year took place in February at Avalon, bringing everyone together for a relaxed evening of conversation, networking, and catching up. It was a lovely opportunity to reconnect and start the year’s Stammtisch series. We then hosted our Interclub Scholarship Info Session at the Startup House, giving members the chance to learn more about the scholarship, the application process, and the opportunities it offers. In March, we continued the Stammtisch series with our second gathering of the year at Rüdigerhof. It was another enjoyable evening filled with good conversations, new connections, and a relaxed atmosphere. At the beginning of April, we switched things up with a film screening at Admiral Kino, where we watched the award-winning documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood. The screening offered us a chance to come together for a cultural evening and enjoy the film as a group.
April continued with a special Interclub Stammtisch, bringing members and friends from across the different clubs together, strengthening the FAN community.
Just one week later, we hosted a panel discussion on the topic “Kunst und Kulturbudgets in Krisenzeiten”. We were delighted to welcome Werner Kogler, Heidi Meissnitzer, and Vasilena Gankovska for an engaging discussion on the challenges and importance of cultural funding in times of crisis. The evening offered a valuable opportunity to hear different perspectives and discuss the role of art and culture in our society. After the discussion we enjoyed a glass of wine from our sponsor Nittnaus.
In April our co presidents joined the yearly FAN Spring conference in Spain.
In May we started of with a Stammtisch at Badeschiff. Next, we hosted a very interesting fireside chat with Andreas Grassl at Café Benno. It was an engaging evening filled with insightful perspectives, thoughtful discussions, and inspiring exchanges.
Further, we celebrated our Scholarship Ceremony at LUMINA, our very generous event location sponsor. It was a special evening dedicated to celebrating the scholarship recipients and recognizing their achievements, while also bringing our community together in a warm and inspiring setting.

Im May we were inivited to attend the CEOs4Future Brunch during the Impact days.
Together with our sponsor and partner AK Wien, we hosted a panel discussion with Judith Derndorfer in June. Also in June we had greate workshop with Teach for Austria (TFA).
We also had three more monthly Stammtische in the past months.
And now, we are very much looking forward to the European Forum Alpbach which we prepared well during our Pre-Alpbach weekend on the country side.
